Be aware!


Travelling to countries in the World gives you, the traveler, a certain responsibility.

CO2

By travelling by any motorized vehicle including planes you, the traveler, are responsible for loads CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. If you feel bad about that, you can think of making a tax deductable donation to organizations.

Local trade

Support fair trade in the countries you visit. Buy hand-crafted goods from local artisans in economical disadvantaged communities. Bargain for local stuff but do not exaggerate. It might be the case that the 10 cents is not that important to you, while for the local salesmen it is.

Water

Use your towels twice or more. Let the supplier of you accommodation know that you wish to use your towels more than once. Many hotels already do have the possibility to use the towels more then once.

Electricity

Lower the heating or air-conditioning while leaving your holiday address. Shut down your TV set while leaving your holiday address, do not leave it on stand-by. Protected or not protected items

In many countries local divers and tourist divers work together to clean up the bottom of the seas. Don’t invent work, do not leave unnatural stuff behind on the bottom of the sea.

Camping

Before you leave inspect the campsite and rest areas for rubbish or spilled foods, including small such as bits of food and rubbish, including cigarette filters and organic litter such as orange peels, or egg and nut shells. Pack in plastic bags to carry your rubbish out (and maybe someone else's).

Trekking

While trekking keep in mind not leave any garbage around. Not even the smallest cigarette filter! It takes many years before some garbage is returned to dust. Relieve yourself at least 100 meters from any water source and also a good distance from the trail. Burry it if possible. Don’t be ashamed to tip for good service, not because it is an obligation.
